A series of four, two-hour classes for people with Type 2 diabetes. The UW Medical School offers 10-week group sessions designed to teach new strategies for interpreting stressful events. In addition to learning concrete stress management skills, each participant will learn relaxation techniques. Breast Cancer and Exercise Research Study

Has your cancer progressed to other areas of your body? The UW Health Emotions Research Institute invites you to participate in a free exercise study for women with metastatic breast cancer - breast cancer that has spread to other areas of the body. The goal of this project is to study the physical and psychological health benefits of an exercise training program for women with metastatic breast cancer. It will determine whether exercise can be an effective intervention. Participants will be enrolled in the study for one year. The exercise training will last 16 weeks and will meet for 1 1/2 hours three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:45 - 2:15 p.m. For more information contact Beth Mullen (608) 263-6151. Breast Cancer and Exercise Research Study
Has your cancer progressed to other areas of your body? The UW Health Emotions Research Institute invites you to participate in a free exercise study for women with metastatic breast cancer - breast cancer that has spread to other areas of the body. The goal of this project is to study the physical and psychological health benefits of an exercise training program for women with metastatic breast cancer. It will determine whether exercise can be an effective intervention. Participants will be enrolled in the study for one year. The exercise training will last 16 weeks and will meet for 1 1/2 hours three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:45 - 2:15 p.m. For more information contact Beth Mullen (608) 263-6151. The UW Comprehensive Cancer Center offers a unique program for individuals who are seriously ill and need caregiver support. Based on the book Share the Care: How to Organize a Group to Care for Someone Who is Seriously Ill by Capossela and Warnock, the Share the Care Model provides a road map on how to create a caregiver team (comprised of friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers, etc.) to provide individuals and families with help to maintain some of the activities of daily living such as house cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking, or transportation. Share the Care insures that the person who is ill has the support he/she needs and that no caregiver has to do the task alone.
